Meet Me: Karen from School with Mom
A Gentle Beginning
Hello, I’m Karen—a homeschooling mom of eight (yes, seven lively boys and one sweet girl), and I’m so glad you’re here.
For over a decade, I’ve been following the timeless wisdom of Charlotte Mason, slowly building a homeschool filled with living books, nature walks, peaceful rhythms, and gentle lessons. School with Mom grew out of my desire to share the encouragement, resources, and gentle inspiration I wish I’d had when I began homeschooling.
I’ve spent years researching and applying Charlotte Mason’s methods in real life—reading her volumes, designing our days around her principles, and adapting them to fit the beautiful (and often chaotic) rhythm of my large family homeschool. Along the way, I began creating my own resources—things I couldn’t find elsewhere—that combined practicality with peace.
Our Homeschool Life
In our home, we follow a Charlotte Mason-inspired path. That means:
- We read living books every day
- We value habit training and gentle character formation
- We spend time outdoors, observing the changing seasons and nature’s many lessons
- We learn through copywork, dictation, and narration—building language naturally and beautifully
- We believe that Mother Culture—the care of a mother’s heart and mind—is essential to the homeschool atmosphere

My Heart
This space isn’t just about lesson plans—it’s about the atmosphere of home. I believe homeschooling can be beautiful, peace-filled, and sustainable—even with many little ones underfoot.

Let’s walk this lovely road together.
